The AST girl’s camp is an aviation, space technology experience for young women who are in Grade 8 to 12. The camp aims to engage, empower, and inspire young girls to pursue their careers in the aviation and space industries or other related Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) field. The girl's campers explore aviation and space through learning classrooms as well as hands-on experiences from knowledgeable facilitators, mentors, and camp counsellors.
They gain life skills to apply to in everyday life and discover the unlimited opportunities a career in aviation and space presents.
The girls will get to use design thinking and technology to invent, build and present solutions to current challenges in the aviation and space industry.

The Aviation & Space technology job shadowing programme gives learners exposure and an opportunity to explore careers in the aviation and the space technology industry and any other STEAM- related careers. This programme is designed to give each learner an all-around experience, equipping them to make an informed decision regarding their career path. Careers covered in the programme may include Pilots (Drones, Military, Police, Corporate) Information technology, Aircraft maintenance engineer (AME), Air traffic controller (ATC), Engineering (Aeronautical, Mechanical,
Aerospace) and other STEAM-related fields.
THE GOALS
-
Learners to have an opportunity to observe an employee performing their daily work routine in their environment. It allows them to explore specific careers and to get a realistic picture of the tasks performed for that job. This will allow the learners to make an informed decision about their career of choice.
-
Expose learners to scholarship opportunities in their field of interest. This can also help learners show scholarship providers or companies that they are serious about a career in that field.

We have job shadow programmes throughout the year. Each programme runs for five days, and we place 2 to 5 learners in our partner aviation or space technology company. The programme is supported by workshops throughout the year.
