My name is Lynsook Mbu and here is a little something about me. Dreams and aspirations change the older we get. For me, I wanted to be many things from a teacher to a doctor.

In high school I was presented with so many options from everyone’s opinion and perspective, honestly, I was unsure and so I investigated as many possibilities as I could.

SAWIA/GFPA Experience

In 2014 I had the privilege to be among the selected girls for the GFPA Aviation and Space camp. It was the best experience one could ask for and a highly informative week. This is where I was introduced to the topics about the space and aviation industries. The information and knowledge gained would later play a pivotal role in shaping my future career choice. When all was said and done, I left with a different mindset and a variety of new career options. I am so grateful to Refilwe and her team for all the activities, hard-work and passion put into the camp. It is a memory I will never forget for not only did I have a life-changing experience, but I also met intelligent, powerful, and ambitious ladies.

My University Journey

When applying for tertiary I had initially intended to study something in the field of science. In my matric year, I had a change of heart, I wanted to study something related to commerce and something unique and in demand. I now hold a degree in BCom Logistics Management, a BCom Honours Logistics Management degree and I could not have been happier with my decision. There were times I was not sure if I had made the right decision, but I persevered and now I am seeing the results of my hard work.

My Work Life

I am happy to be working in one of the biggest freights forwarding companies in the world, Expeditors International. It has truly been a great experience thus far. Everything that happened in my past has prepared me for this very moment. The GFPA camp was a catalyst that propelled into this very moment in my life. I may not be a pilot, engineer, air traffic controller, etc. but I am in still a contributing member in the aviation industry through logistics, transportation, and distribution. I look forward to my future endeavours and hopefully to be an inspiration to the next person.
